My role as Head of Software, Services & Systems at Cutitronics really is as wide-ranging as it sounds. My passion lies in helping businesses see the added value they can gain from their systems and data. I joined Cutitronics last year at such an exciting time in our dynamic company’s development and I’m looking forward to being able to share my experience and expertise with our customers over the coming months and years. My priorities include making complex data systems simple and ensuring we support our customers to achieve the very best for their brand(s) from everything that our game-changing CutiTron technology has to offer.
There’s no such thing as a typical day
At this critical stage in our journey, there’s no such thing as a typical day at Cutitronics HQ. I’m currently putting the finishing touches to our demonstration App. This will offer a snap-shot of what is possible using our CutiTron technology. To kick-start the project, I worked through wire frames with the Cutitronics team before having our design team turn these into our Vanilla, Alpha Brand, demo. This approach to design and development ensures we’re creating the best team to support our customer’s bespoke requirements going forward. At present our team are producing weekly releases whilst continuing to develop in the background. I am then responsible for testing and sharing these releases with the rest of the Cutitronics’ team. This collaborative approach to development runs through everything we do both internally and externally with our customers. It ensures that input is gathered from every part of our business to ensure we keep the customer at the centre of everything we do. Feedback is then given to our developers’ and so the process continues.
Up in the Cloud
In parallel to this I’m working on designing and developing the backend system for our technology using Cloud based Services. I’ve implemented enough functionality so that our Alpha Brand demo App can send what data it needs into the cloud, process it using server less functions and then store the data in a Database. The data is then ingested into a data warehouse and I’ve implemented dashboards using Business Information tools to display some of the demo data plus other mocked up data, which shows what will be available in future. A big factor in all of this is taking into account forthcoming GDPR legislation changes to ensure our systems will be fully compliant.
Another key milestone on our roadmap is fleshing out our server less functions to handle all that we can achieve using our patented devices and linked Apps. This includes development, automated testing and automated deployment using a DevOPs model. There’s a lot of work being done in Data Analysis at the back office in identifying how the consumer can get the best results from the Cutitronics system as well as providing insight to the Cosmetic Brands as to what the Consumer is doing with their product on a daily basis. This will allow them to offer the most appropriate products to the consumer resulting in enhanced brand loyalty and a win-win situation for both them and their customers. The potential for our technology to radically change how Skincare brands interact with their customers once they leave the physical store is phenomenal. So, it’s imperative that our demonstration App displays the capabilities of our technology to the best of its abilities. Everyone in our team is incredibly excited about what we have to offer!
And it’s this aspect of my role that helps to keeps things fresh. There’s always some new technology to explore and understand how it could potentially interact with ours. I’m personally very interested to see what we can do with machine learning in this space when we have access to daily usage data.
Variety is the Spice of Life
Because we work in a very collaborative way, I’m also involved with the team responsible for developing our CutiTron devices and topical product cartridges. This enables them to get a better understanding for what we need the technology to do.
As we continue to develop our multi award winning technology company it is likely that my role will settle into more of a routine with a strategic overview of our operational systems ensuring these function as designed as we bring on board new customers but until then it’s a bit more dynamic. And that’s how I like it!
So, if you’re excited about the potential of what our technology and the data produced can do for your brand, then make sure you visit our stand at in-Cosmetics Global (G60) to talk with the team.
