    Dr David has an extensive academic career.  As a qualified medical device researcher with degrees in physics and engineering, he has worked in a multidisciplinary clinical, commercial and engineering teams.

    Throughout his PhD and post-doctoral research, Dr David focussed on transdermal medical technology.  While presenting his research at a skincare conference, he had his "light-bulb moment" realising the expertise he had developed could be reapplied to solve some of the major challenges facing the global cosmetic skincare industry.

    Wilma is a highly experienced and respected senior commercial manager with a proven track record of building people, brands & business. Throughout her career, she has devised and implemented successful sales and marketing strategies that have consistently delivered significant sales growth in the UK premium fragrance & beauty business and in the European apparel industry.  

    Wilma’s commercial career includes 10 years at the Estee Lauder group of companies and 11 years with Aspects Beauty Company.

    Barry studied Applied Physics at the University of Strathclyde in the 1970’s. He then pursued a career in IT and has accumulated over 30 years of experience in computer technology and business management.  He was with Apple for 11 years, where he worked on the original Macintosh Central Processing Unit (CPU) family in California and founded Apple’s first offshore Research & Development unit in Paris.

    Having worked in organisations large, medium and small, Barry co-founded the smartcard company Ecebs in 2000, before floating it on the London Stock Exchange in 2005 and selling it to theTrainline.com in 2007.

    Since then he has been involved as an Enterprise Partner with the University of Strathclyde and serves as Non-Executive Director / Chairman for several innovative technology companies.

    Craig is an experienced Scottish Chartered Accountant and has worked in Private Equity, Venture Capital, Corporate Finance and Industrial Financial Management roles. 

    Craig was highly involved with the University of Strathclyde where he worked with a number of early-stage companies driving their strategic direction, finance raising and overall financial management. It was this involvement that lead to him joining the Cutitronics team, playing an active role in the “spin-out” process from Strathclyde. In 2014, he was recognised for his work with the University winning the coveted Enterprise Partner Award.

    From Graduate Research & Development Chemist to Managing Director Industrial Specialities and latterly, President of Personal Care & North America, Sandra’s extensive career has allowed her to gain unparalleled industry knowledge, working across all of Croda’s market sectors.

    In February 2012 Sandra achieved a life-long career ambition with her appointment to the Croda Executive Committee – a strategic role that allows Sandra to make a real difference to the future shape of Croda and have influence on the wider chemical industry.

    Charlene graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Accounting & Management before working for over 12 years in accounting and finance. She is also a Part-Qualified Accountant.

    Stuart is a Chartered Engineer and Bioengineer, with over 20 years' experience of multi-disciplinary product design and development in consumer, scientific and medical fields.  He has been involved in the planning and delivery of over 80 product development projects for a wide range of companies from start-ups to global device brands.

    Having held technical project management roles at DCA Design, WideBlue and Plexus Engineering Solutions, Stuart founded his own consultancy, named after his postgraduate research projects on blood flow.

    Brian has significant experience in software development and project management within the technology sector, with a career spanning over 27 years.

    Brian’s path started with an intriguing 8-year career with GCHQ during which time he gained an honours degree in computing from Cheltenham College. 

    Following a move back to Scotland, Brian worked in software engineering and project management for Ecebs and, more recently as Operations Manager with Rambus, leading on the management and development of cutting-edge semiconductor and IP products.

    Marly has 35 dog years experience in all things Lab related but is new to her role as Lab Manager.

    Despite Marly’s lack of experience in her new role, there are many valuable attributes that she brings to the team. She reminds us that even when times get ruff, nothing is in-paw-sible when you have the dogged determination to do what is needed. Marly is always keen to avoid a situation where the tail is wagging the dog so she keeps her eye on the big picture and her customer close in the consultation. With an approach like that, you will not find Marly barking up the wrong tree!

    In short, Marly helps us all keep perspective, hounds us when we sit too long, encourages us to paw-nder the bigger picture and ultimately, as a team, to reach our pet-ential.

    Nicola joined Cutitronics in 2018 after graduating from the University of Strathclyde.

    Her love of travelling and spending time in new cultures led her to study a degree in International Business and Marketing. During her time at university, Nicola enjoyed spending a semester in North Carolina studying on an exchange programme and afterwards travelling the length of the USA.

    Kevin completed his Master's Degree in Advanced Computer Systems Development at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in 2016.  He has over 10 years of experience working in an Oracle-based environment, including a variety of Oracle products such as Fusion Middleware and Business Intelligence.

    After working for one of the top 100 construction companies in the UK for several years, Kevin spent time gaining valuable experience and insight at one of Scotland’s top universities before deciding to join the team at Cutitronics.

    Helen is our Business Office Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day running of Cutitronics HQ. Her tenacity, impeccable attention to detail and excellent organisational skills ensures that everything runs smoothly.

    A highly experienced senior manager with over 20 years experience gained in the Scottish Land and New Home sector, Helen's previous roles include Regional Sales Director with Lovell Partnerships and Associate Director with DTZ Residential.

    Helen also spent time in Glasgow as a skincare & perfume PR for House of Fraser and managing the ladies' department for Sir Hugh's flagship department store.

    • 24+ years industry experience

    Stephen McSpadden has been a technical product manager for 8 years, having been involved in smart cards, security related software and anti-counterfeit technologies for a total of 24 years. Starting his career in smart card chip testing, he moved to focusing on software, developing certified cryptographic libraries. He then went on to develop applications for smart card schemes in domains as diverse as payment, transport and identity both in the UK and internationally (including in what he terms “interesting places”).

    Stephen brings a depth of real-world, security related knowledge and experience to Cutitronics where he is now responsible for the technical roadmap for our devices and product range.

    • Substantial Engineering experience

    Ignacio graduated in Electronics Engineering in Germany and soon after joined NXP Semiconductors. For the past 5 years, he has been developing and testing their products. Previously he has also worked on a range of contactless solutions that go from smartcards to its secure access module.

    After his first year in Germany, where he completed his thesis, he moved to Austria for another year and finally came to Scotland to work on the development of NXP's SAM AV3. Initially Ignacio came for just a month and a half to finish the project but it has since been 3 years and we are now delighted to call him our Embedded Software Engineer.

    Daniel graduated from the University of Glasgow with a First Class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since then he has been involved in the design and development of complex products ranging from satellites to truck exhaust systems.

    From his time at AAC Clyde Space, Daniel has worked with customers ranging in size from local universities to national space administrations, helping bring their ideas from a blank sheet of paper to launch on the market (and in to space).

    Sarah completed her Master’s degree in Product Design Engineering at Strathclyde University. Since graduating Sarah has worked in both OEM and consultancy environments as a Product Development and Mechanical Engineer.

    Focused mainly within the medical device sector, Sarah has worked on a wide variety of products ranging from vascular grafts to large scale laboratory automation.

    Jim has significant experience within a number of industry sectors including, consumer electronics, opto-electronic instruments and medical devices with a career spanning 20+ years.

    After graduating with a Masters in Electronic Engineering (Msc), his career started within the development team of a young Scottish consumer electronics company in designing battery operated optical cd burner products. He has also worked on designing products and subsystems for the industrial and medical electronics, while additionally ensuring these device achieved international regulatory test certification.

    Having worked at some of the largest contract manufacturers, including Jabil & Plexus, Gordon has worked on main value accounts to drive better supply chain performance whilst controlling costs with some major electronic customers worldwide.

    Chris has been involved in developing new technologies and products such as vacuum cleaners, environmental control products and even electric vehicles.

    Andrew graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2019 with a 2:1 degree in Software Development for Business. He decided to progress his education further and took up the opportunity of a Master’s degree in Big Data Technologies. From this Andrew achieved a position as a Data Science Intern with Cutitronics, who he will produce his master’s thesis in partnership with.

    Stan completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Computing Science at the University of Glasgow in 2020. Most of his university experience and interests have been centred in back-end web development, database design and automation as well as cloud computing. The desire to delve into the practical space of his degree and be at the forefront of the technology development industry led him to Cutitronics.

    Ruairi graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2020 with a 1st class degree in Computer Science. Throughout university he gained the majority of his experience in software engineering and cloud computing. In his final year Ruairi wrote his dissertation on using a practical example to compare different software architectures. After completing university, Ruairi joined Cutitronics as a Graduate DevOps Engineer.

  • Hannah joined Cutitronics in September 2020 as a Marketing Intern. She is completing her internship alongside her fourth year of a Masters in International Business and Modern Languages (French). Hannah specialises in Marketing as her principle business subject.

    Hannah has marketing experience from working with a medical aesthetics clinic through a university project. She also has over 3 years of luxury beauty experience gained from her time as a consultant on a prestigious beauty counter .

    Dr David Heath launches Cutitronics

    Following an extensive academic career, Dr David Heath qualified as a medical devices researcher with degrees in physics and engineering, working in a multidisciplinary clinical, commercial and engineering team.     Dr David Heath wins ERA Entrepreneur of the Year 2014

    On 18th March 2014, Dr David Heath was announced as ERA Entrepreneur of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding entrepreneurial research in the field of electro-technology.

    Dr David recieved a development fund to progress his skincare device innovation, a personal award and mentoring from the renowned engineer, Dr Jeremy Burroughes FREng FRS.

    Cutitronics was delighted to be announced as a Wild Card Winner at Scottish EDGE Round 7 on 9th December 2015.

    The team were presented with their award by Sir Willie Haughey and received £10,000 of funding to help develop their innovative technology.

    Scottish EDGE is a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s up-and-coming, innovative, high-growth potential entrepreneurial talent.

    Cutitronics was proud to be announced as a Main Category Winner at the Scottish EDGE Round 8 in June 2016.

    Following a successful Wild Card nomination in Round 7, Dr David Heath & Wilma McDaniel were invited to pitch in front of a live audience and panel of distinguished industry experts, including Sir Tom Hunter, before being chosen as a Winner.

    Unveiling our first prototype

    On Tuesday 17th April, we unveiled our first prototype device and digital technology platform at Europe’s premier cosmetics industry trade show, In-Cosmetics Global, held in Amsterdam.

    Visitors to the stand were given a glimpse of how the connected, intelligent device (with Cutitron®® technology inside) could look.  They were also presented with a prototype App and Back Office System, showing how the device will deliver a truly adaptive and personalised service for the Consumer, and the benefits this has for the Brand.

    Unveiling our first fully functioning prototype

    On Tuesday 2nd April, we unveiled our first fully functioning prototype device and digital technology platform at Europe’s premier cosmetics industry trade show, in-Cosmetics Global, held in Paris.

    Visitors to the stand were given a full demonstration of how the connected, intelligent device works - measuring skin hydration levels and dispensing the optimum volume of product. They were also presented with a final version of the App and Back Office System, showing how the device will deliver a truly adaptive and personalised service for the Consumer, and the benefits this has for the Brand.
